Birthday card for my Mum part 1

It was my mother’s birthday this past week and yes that meant me having to make 2 cards (one from me and one from my Nan).  I took ages with both of them and today I am sharing my card.

This card is a little different for me as I have not done any Gorjuss or decoupage in ages.  I chose this particular kit from my stash as I felt like choosing some different colours and yes Yellow and Green is different but it is summer, well it claims to be summer, and I wanted it bright and cheery.

After getting the decoupage sorted out I chose the matching papers, from a 12×12 and a 6×6 pack.  I covered the card base with the larger piece of paper and then using some green and yellow adorable scoreable I mounted the 6×6 finally and then the image.  Everything that was left over I used to make the flowers using my Dreamees dies and some faux pearls from my stash (old charity shop faux pearl necklaces that have been chopped up and used for flower centres as and when needed).

I really hope that you like this make and that you pop by again soon.

I gave you my heart

I do like working with MDF and I thought I would share a tag I made whilst I was doing some MDF projects of my own.  I had been covering an MDF project with some of the papers I had left over from a Gorjuss set and which were just sitting in a box.  There were some pieces left over and I decided to cover a tag and make something pretty.

I covered the tag with my left over papers and then stamped some flowers onto scraps of the paper I couldn’t do anything else with. I inked this Gorjuss stamp with Staz on and it fitted a scrap of watercolour card I had lying around. I coloured the girl using my Spectrum Noir Aquablend pencils (Essentials- Pearl White, Straw, Apricot, Coral, Anthracite, Ebony and Primaries – Red Berry, Ruby, Aegean Blue).  I had the tag on a sheet of Gorjuss papers so instead of writing anything I used my new Spellbinders die (Sentiments 5) and this lovely “hello” script which I thought fitted nicely.  Then I added my Dreams flowers and put some pearls in the middle.  To finish off this piece of MDF I sprayed with Crafters Companion Spray and Shine which gives a lovely protective seal on the tag but also makes it shine).  The ribbon was added last and is from my personal stash.

So there it is a quick tag but one I think is very pretty and I’ll be putting this to one side for future craft fairs or I’ll give as a gift to a friend.

Thank you for popping by once again.

I found my family in a book

Recently I have been going back to the crafts that I hadn’t really done much of in recent months and after a sort out it was a case of I must revisit these.

This stamp is by Santoro and is from the lovely Gorjuss range and when I bought it, they called it “I found my family in a book” and it may be the same now but I apologise if they are not. I cut a piece of stamping card 13cm by 19cm and stamped my main image into the corner. Using the cut bit I stamped various other images.  I coloured these in using my Promarkers, Distress Markers and my Spectrum Noir Sparkle and once finished I set them aside to dry.  I scored an A4 piece of cardstock in half to use as my base card. I had some scrapbook papers which were part of an initial set by Docrafts and I chose some of the paper to use for my card and also some of the pieces I cut out from the original packaging.  I cut a piece of the striped paper to 21cm by 14.8cm and placed this on my base card.  I took another shade of the paper and used it to mount the image and left a 1cm border. I then added the elements to finish my card. The stamp is from a set in my stash (could be an old Anna Griffin set but I cannot be sure). I did stamp some of the butterflies straight onto the stamping card and added some cut out bits here and there.  The bow I made from recycling the ribbon that came with the packaging.

This is a lovely card and I hope the recipient likes it!
