Another birthday card for my niece

I cannot believe that my adorable niece is 8 tomorrow, where the hell did that time go?  You’ve seen the card that I made from myself so now its time to see the card that I have made from my Nan.

I have used this image before, probably some time last year but I wanted to get this out again because I love the girl in this image, its meant to be all about the shoes but she could be getting ready to go out.

I used an 8×8 card again as my base and I cut my watercolour card to 6.5×6.5 inches so I had enough room to make a decent mat and layer effect with the Mirri card. Everyone tells me I work backwards when I am crafting different things and I guess me starting the border before stamping the middle may be considered one of those backwards things but I like to work like that.  I then stamped the middle and then I coloured the images in with a mixture of Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens and Spectrum Noir Aquablend pencils.  Once everything was dried (I always let things dry naturally as I tend to have a disaster with helping the drying along!) I cut my Mirri card to 6.7×6.7 inches and 6.9×6.9 inches before I placed it on the Mirri card I had chosen for the base layer on the card.  I stamped and mounted the sentiment on Mirri card and then placed it on the card .  I think someone will like it when she opens it tomorrow morning.

Products used

Tatty Twinkles – Shoes, Watercolour card,

Spectrum Noir Sparkle (Onyx Black, Red Berry Sterling Silver)

Spectrum Noir Aquablend Essentials (champagne, straw, squash, honeymoon, apricot), Naturals (Sorrel, oak, clay, hickory, brunette, cherrywood) Florals (Cherry, Strawberry, Hyacinth, elderberry, damson, blueberry) Primaries (red berry, ruby, indigo, grapefruit, carmine, currant, chrome orange)

50 Shades of Mirri Darker by Hunkydory.

So thank you again for stopping by, all your comments and views are greatly appreciated.

A card from an auntie who adores her niece

I cannot believe that on the 30th my beloved niece turns 8!  How on earth did that happen?  Last time I looked she was a baby..anyway…

She’s taken after her auntie and loves to create things and is very happen when surrounded by card, paper and glue and loves looking at my things to see what she can have a lend of.  We enjoy our messy times.  I had to create a lovely and unusual card for her and at the time of conceiving the idea for the card I’d received some goodies just released by Leonie Pujol.  What perfect timing.

So here is the card. I tried to take a decent photo but this is the best that I could manage at the time!My base card is a hunky dory 8×8 inch card and I worked from that size to see what I could think of. I cut a 6×6 inch piece of watercolour card.  In the middle of the card I stamped the image of the Rag Doll from one of Leonie Pujol’s stamp sets.  Once it was dry I stamped the star from the same set into the corners of the card and using a simple stamp from the Feathery Flourish stamp I joined the stars making a border to my rag doll.  I also stamped some images from the same set to my card background, just to make it more lively.

I coloured the Rag Doll image in using Spectrum Noir Aquablend Essentials (Pearl White, Alabaster, Champagne, Straw, Cantaloupe, Squash, Coral) and Florals (pink Tulip, Violet, Elderberry, Hyacinth,Damson, Plum).  For the rest of the stamped image I used the Spectrum Noir Sparkle range (Sterling Silver, Onyx Black, Peony, Amethyst, Cosmos, Rose Quartz, Macaroon, Pink Champagne, Solar Red, Hearthside, Red Berry, Pink Apricot, Boudoir, Inspired Violet).

I chose to do something different for the next layer of the card.  I cut a piece of 7×7 inch black card and using my versa mark pad and the Wow Embossing Powder (Metallic Silver) I stamped one of the flower images from Fly Free all around the edge of the card and embossed to make a border.  I had just taken delivery of the Spectrum Noir Metallics pencils and I used them to colour this border.  I went through the entire selection of colours (Silver, Gold, Purple, Pink, Violet, Yellow, Green, Light Blue, Blue, Rose Gold, Mica, Glimmer).  I stamped a few extras on some spare black card and built up some flowers with these for the border.

To try to make the card pop out I used two shades of pink to matt and layer with just a small border of colour.

To finish the card I used the Happy Birthday stamp from the Rag Doll set and embossed that in the silver on the black card, and then used the flowers to enhance the card.

I think this card looks lovely and I can’t wait to give it to her next week as I am sure she will love the colours in it.  I have another one to make this weekend for her from another family member so I now need to think of what I can do with regards to that one.

So thank you for stopping by once again and I look forward to your next visit,

Family 80th birthday cards

A Mice Day
Floral Fancy

Hello again and yes another very quick post with two cards!

I actually forgot that I had these photos on my camera so it was a good job I found them!  We have a family birthday this month with a relative turning 80 who is at the other end of the country from us.  I had to make 2 cards to send.  Again I turned to Hunkydory as I wanted something with flowers and characters as I did not like the male choice I had for 80 in my stash (Keen gardener so flowers were perfect).

These Hunkydory cards were a joy to make as when I made them I was still recovering from the trip to the hospital!  I must say that I liked both these cards and again Hunkydory gave me superb quality and plenty of choice.

So yes another quick post to keep you interested and I hope that you will stop by again soon.  I really do appreciate any comments that you make!

Happy Mother’s Day

A very quick post from me today as I am showing the Mother’s Day cards which I have made.  Both cards have been made using Hunkydory products.  These were very quick makes as I had spent so much time making another card I was a bit short on time!  Anyway you can pretty much see how these turned out.  Hunkydory kits are wonderful and you can make a pretty card very easily, the quality superb so you never have to worry about that.

So that’s a quick one for today and I hope that you will stop by again very soon.

Create with All Your Heart.

I didn’t manage to get any posts up this last week, it was one of those kinds of weeks but hopefully I will have a few ready for you this week.

Today I am sharing a card made simply using 2 stamps and some pencils.

I don’t use DL shaped cards that much so I chose to do something with one this time and I cut a piece of watercolour card to 3.5 x 7.5 inches to fit DL and enable me to add a mat and layer.  I used the Leonie Pujol Stamp Flight to Freedom as I loved the butterflies and the sentiment.  It was all this card needed but I do love adding some stitching around the card and I hand stitched the edge with some lovely purple tone thread.  I love purple and all shades of purple…

After stamping the card with the images I coloured them in using my Spectrum Noir Aquablend pencils from the Floral collection (I used Hyacinth, Fig, Crocus, Azalea and Wild Orchid). Then I added the stitching and mounted the design onto Adorable score able cut to 3.75 x 7.75 inches and fixed it to the DL card.  Throughly enjoyed making this and I really should test myself with more using DL card.

Thank you for stopping by and I look forward to your next visit.

El Musico

Hello everyone and thanks for popping by once again.  I had everything lined up ready to be typed up this week but health wise my week has been rubbish.  It started off with me going to see the GP and ending up in an ambulance on my way to A&E and honestly just terrified. What was  suspected wasn’t the cause but I’m being sent for further tests, but I’m feeling better.

So today I am showing the card I made using a new stamp from Sheena Douglass’ Day of the Dead collection which I love. I saw this card and was struck by the bold purple colour used on the packaging and I decided to follow that colour scheme. My base card is a 7×5 inch Hunkydory card which I then mounted the whole design on.

I stamped the image onto a piece of 6×4 piece of stamping card and then used a series of my Spectrum Noir Alcohol markers to colour the design in.  Not having white I used my Sakura White Gelly Roll Pen to accentuate the skeleton.  You can’t see it on the picture but it looks very effective.  Once I had coloured in the design I cut various sizes of black Adorable Scoreable and Mirri card until the last piece fitted the size of the card.  I didn’t feel that the design needed anything else at this time.

Here’s the colour numbers that I have used to colour this piece. All are from the Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers plus the addition of the Sakura White Pen.

FS6, FS7,IG1,IG2,IG3,TN3,TN4,LG5,GB6,DR1,GB4,GB3,GB7,DR2,DR3,BP3,LV3

Thank you for stopping by and I look forward to your next visit.

Dinosaurs and Mermaids

sam_3410 sam_3409Today I am sharing 2 designs which I made for a friend who needed some cards for boys and girls. I chose 2 stamp sets from Hunkydory which I thought suited the theme.

For each card I used a 5×5 inch card blank. I cut the watercolour card to  4.5×4.5inches and the adorable scoreable to 4.75×4.75inches.

For the mermaid card, I inked the sides and the bottom before I inked the Mermaid stamp. I used Masking to cover the mermaid before I added the starfish around her. For the Dinosaur I did the same masking the dinosaur off to add the trees.  All that was left was to add the colour and then mat and layer to finish the card.

Mermaid card colours

Aquablend Essentials – Oregano, Spruce, Sorrel, Bison, Cherrywood, Brunette, Aqua, Lagoon, Ocean.

Aquablend Naturals – Coral, Apricot, Nutmeg, Umber, Hickory.

Dino colours

Aquablend Essentials – Charcoal Brown, Black Umber, Umber

Aquablend Naturals – Spruce, Jungle Green, Clay, Oak, Brunette.

Simple cards to make but I enjoyed making them.  Thank you for stopping by and please visit soon.
