A Ruby Wedding celebration

I was recently asked to make some special canvases for a Ruby Wedding celebration . It turned out to be my biggest project to date and a project I really enjoyed creating.

Firstly I scanned the photos I was given and changed my mind on the size canvas I was going to use. I had originally planned on using 8x8inch canvases but then decided that 12x 12 inch would work better.

White canvas was too stark a colour so I coated the canvases in two coats of Paperartsy Fresco Finish Acrylic paint in Vintage Lace.  Once dry the effect was the one which I was hoping for. I used Kaisercraft Key to my Heart papers for the base of both the canvas designs.  I used Pinflair Foto Glue to adhere the paper and it gave me the exact strength I wanted. I mounted the photos and placed them in the middle of the canvas.( I have not shown the photos in this blog post because they are not of any members of my family).

In this canvas I made the rose using a Spellbinders die and I made smaller rosettes using the Sizzix Bigz die.  I used the Kaisercard which complimented the paper. I adhered a row of acrylic diamonds to the design at the bottom of the paper, these have not been picked up in the photo.

This next canvas was a honeymoon photo and I felt that I could do a little more with it.

Again I used the Kaisercraft paper but I went for more of a design around the edges which I made using another Spellbinders die.  The design looked a little bare so I made some more rosettes and added these to the ends of the accents.  Below the photo I chose to make a carnation using the spellbinders die. As you can see its made this simple and effective and the design didn’t need any more work.

I thoroughly enjoyed making these and I know that the recipients were thrilled with these canvases which makes my work worth it.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you will stop by soon.
